The American Heart Association is proud to announce that Ginger Zimmerman will keynote the American Heart Association’s 17th Annual Long Island Go Red For Women Luncheon and share her truly amazing story of survival. This year’s event will take place on Thursday, February 28, 2018 at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury.

Ginger Zimmerman is an Artist, Writer, Motivational Speaker and one of the very few receipts of not just one but two heart transplants.

She received her first transplant on April 23, 1998 at the young age of 32 due to a condition called Permanent Dilated Viral Cardiomyopathy. At the time she was married and the mother of three young sons ages 4, 9 and 13.

Ginger underwent another open heart surgery to replace a valve in her first transplanted heart in September 2011. Her youngest son Jason was in his senior year of high school at the time.

She went on to need additional heart surgeries as well as a second heart transplant after waiting nine months in the hospital. We are thrilled to have Ginger share her riveting, courageous and at times humorous story with the more than 1,000 attendees expected at the Luncheon this year.

This year’s Luncheon will honor The Women of SterlingRisk, and Doug DeShutter, President, Customer Communications, Broadridge. Charlotte Biblow, Esq., Partner, Farrell Fritz, P.C. and The Link’s Incorporated will receive the Community Honoree Award. The honorees are committed to raising support and creating awareness about heart disease and stroke especially, as it pertains to women. Teresa Evans, Director, Human Resources Business Partner, National Retail, Freedom Mortgage is Chair of the Luncheon. Gary D. Foster, Ph.D., Chief Scientific Officer, Weight Watchers International, Inc. will be our Distinguished Speaker.

Heart disease and stroke are the No. 1 and No. 5 killers of Long Island women. Most women don’t notice the symptoms of heart disease until it’s too late. That’s why heart disease has been called the silent killer.
